SLCO Owned / UFA Staffed Station

Because the fire station owner and the agency that was responsible for day-to-day operations were different entities, it was necessary for the architect to nurture a strong team atmosphere where both parties interests were represented and reflected in the end product. As is the case with every successful project, the best results come when careful consideration of the clients programming needs is balanced with the budgetary constraints. The result of the this effort was a facility where the building owner, operator and local canyon community all had real input that impacted the design and construction of this station. All involved in the process can take joint ownership in the successful outcome of their efforts.

Design Considerations

This two-bay station was constructed in the middle of the canyon to reduce response times to the residents in Emigration Canyon. The sloped project site presented a worthy challenge for a drive-through apparatus bay.

The facility’s small community room is equipped with backup power from an emergency generator, and data communication to servers located in the valley at the County’s Emergency Operations Center that will allow for this station to operate as a command post in an emergency or disaster situation.
